Traditional urban delivery models are not only inefficient and costly, but they also fail to meet the growing demands of today’s online shoppers, who expect fast and sustainable deliveries. Last-mile logistics, which often accounts for up to 50% of the total delivery cost, is riddled with inefficiencies. At Dhaasook, we've developed a delivery model that enhances both the efficiency and sustainability of urban freight. By consolidating first-mile, local same-day deliveries, reverse logistics, and last-mile deliveries within each urban neighborhood, we’ve optimized the entire process.
The delivery experience is often the key to customer satisfaction, especially in e-commerce. In the UK, nearly half of consumers are willing to pay extra for convenience, such as the ability to choose specific delivery windows. Traditional delivery models, with hubs located far from consumers, struggle to meet these evolving needs. What sets cargo bike deliveries apart is that they are not only cost-effective but also more efficient due to several key advantages:
Cargo bikes consolidate multiple deliveries into fewer rounds, increasing efficiency.
Cargo bikes can make use of existing cycling infrastructure, allowing for more drops per hour
Cargo bikes require minimal energy, making them a greener alternative.
Unlike delivery vans, cargo bikes can navigate city centers without the added burden of parking fees.
While diesel vans and electric vehicles perform well on highways, when it comes to navigating city centers, lighter, more urban-friendly vehicles like cargo bikes make the most sense.
Dhaasook offers a unique, eco-friendly alternative to traditional last-mile delivery services through our cargo bike fleet. Unlike conventional delivery methods that rely on fuel-powered vans, contributing to traffic congestion and pollution, Dhaasook’s cargo bikes are completely emission-free at the tailpipe—and will always remain so. This makes them a genuinely sustainable choice for your business. Cargo bikes are not only environmentally friendly, but they're also lightweight, less carbon-intensive to produce, and ideally suited for maneuvering through busy urban environments. This perfect blend of efficiency and sustainability reduces delivery costs, and cargo bike deliveries are up to 60% faster than vans in city settings. It’s green fulfillment at its finest.
At Dhaasook, we’ve completely reimagined the last-mile delivery model. It’s not just about the cargo bikes; we’ve streamlined the entire process—from the distribution center all the way to your customer’s door. Traditional big HGVs and vans no longer have to be used in urban areas with this method. Instead, parcels from retailers’ warehouses are delivered to our edge-of-city hubs, where they’re consolidated with others going to nearby neighborhoods. These consolidated parcels are then transferred to our ultra-low-carbon cargo bikes for the final leg of the journey. By locating hubs closer to their final destinations, we reduce unnecessary mileage, create more efficient routes, and achieve significant savings in both cost and emissions.
We didn’t create Dhaasook just to be another tech-driven delivery service. Our mission is to bring real, meaningful change to our cities. The challenges of clean air, traffic congestion, the rapid growth of e-commerce, and the push for net-zero sustainability are all converging. These pressing issues have led to an urban landscape that urgently needs a complete rethink of how deliveries are carried out. With air pollution linked to chronic diseases and thousands of premature deaths, and the climate crisis intensifying due to rising greenhouse gas emissions, now is the time to learn more about our work and become part of the true sustainable delivery revolution.
We operate a diverse fleet that includes 2-wheeled, 3-wheeled, and 4-wheeled cargo bikes, along with a small number of electric vans. However, our primary focus is on trailers, and we are proud to design and build our own: DHAASOOK Trailers. These trailers play a vital role in our middle-mile network and inter-hub trunking, enabling us to manage larger freight deliveries efficiently.
Building on everything we've learned about running an efficient, reliable cargo bike operation, we've gone a step further by developing our own bikes: the GTrike. Curious? Take a closer look.
